Central Football Officials
Lawrence P. Tracey, Jr. has been a member of the
Central Connecticut Approved Football Officials since
1970. While he retired from the field in 1998, he has
continued his work with that association, lending his
expertise and experience to any who want help.
A top-notch umpire for the CCAFO, Larry joined the
Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Officials'
Boston Chapter in 1980, later becoming a charter
member of the Connecticut Chapter. During his career
for the EAIFO, he worked many top games on the Div.
II and III level, until an accident in 1 990 at
Middlebury College ended his career.
He continues on the high school and collegiate circuits,
working as a clock operator for ECAC and later
the Big East Conference. He currently is a clock operator
at all UConn home games.
He continued his work with the CCAFO, chairing or
co-chairing its New Members Committee, where he contributed to training
many current members
of the organization.
He estimates he
has worked more
than 1,000 contests
on all levels. He has
served as president of
the CCAFO (1995),
and served or chaired
on the Assignments,
Rating/Evaluation,
Nominating, Better Officiating, Presidents, and Policies
and Procedures committees. He has also been a representative
to the CFOA In 1999 he was elected to
the CCAFO Distinguished Service Honor Roll.
Larry is willing to help younger members attain varsity
status and "never stop reaching to be the best."
